Tamara de Lempicka is an artist I deeply admire. Her women are gracious, glamorous, chic, full of life and colour. I really like the stark contrast in the paintings. It's making the portraits more dramatic. Dramatic, colourful and popping from the linen....my kind of work. Most of her women look away from the viewer. That is different from the ones I posted yesterday and the day before. As a viewer I think that is more easy and calming. As an artist myself I don't have a preferation. Dramatic looking away or confronting by looking intensely towards the viewer. Either of the options is fine. Maybe it is all about passion in the eyes. If a painter can caption that it will be a great portrait.
